Granger Lancers Mass Photo Post

I haven’t posted a Granger update since the heart breaker the Hillcrest Huskies handed them.  So, here’s everything that has happened since.  Except for the game at West High School.  Hooray for car problems.  Anyway…Granger @ Cottonwood Sophomore Michael Chandler Photography-2The next match was a rematch against the Cottonwood Colts, and the home floor advantage was in full effect for the Colts.  Despite hanging in there most of the game, the Lancers couldn’t hold on and lost 64-52.

Taylorsville at Granger Varsity Michael Chandler Photography-10After a double overtime win at West High School, which I missed because I was fixing my car, the Lancers welcomed defending Region 2 champs Taylorsville.  After the fourteen point loss the Warriors handed the Lancers, they owed them one.  And they made good on it, defeating them 58-48.

granger senior ceremony small michael chandler photography-12After the celebrations the game was underway, and for three quarters it was quite the game.  Unfortunately they play four quarters nowadays, and things got out of hand to the tune of a 62-44 loss.

granger at hillcrest varsity michael chandler photography-27The season closed out on the road against Hillcrest, and after the heart breaking loss the Huskies handed them, the Lancers were looking for payback.  The boys fought hard, but the Huskies (who themselves were celebrating their own senior night) fought harder and held off the Lancers 62-52.

And that was the season.  When all was said and done the Lancers Varsity squad finished with a record of 4-6 in region and 9-13 overall, their best season since the 2010-2011 season.  Their 9 total wins this season is as many wins as the last three seasons combined.  With half of the team graduating the team will be very different next year, but the Junior Varsity and Sophomore teams are talented and will help fill the gaps left by the outgoing seniors.  Unfortunately nobody will be able to replace the presence that was 6′ 10″ Makol Mawien, but there some promising young low post players willing to try.

There are links to the SmugMug page where you can purchase photos from this season, but here is a gallery of some of my favorite photos from the season:
